Lincolnshire booked their place and remain on track to defend the Johns Trophy following a 38-shot victory over Nottinghamshire in the quarter final.

This was helped largely by a 48-8 scoreline in favour of Penny Strong’s rink and a 41-10 victory for Jill Edson’s rink. Maureen Wilson’s rink also contributed strongly with a 24-8 win.

Lincolnshire will face Norfolk following a tight 112-109 quarter final defeat of Leicestershire. Leicestershire started the stronger of the two sides, and even led by 28-shots at 10 ends, however a spirited fightback from the Norfolk side secured their semi-final spot.

Kent are also still on track to make amends for their defeat to Lincolnshire in last year’s final, after a 118-103 victory over Surrey with a new-look team following earlier games. They will face Gloucestershire in the semi final after they defeated Somerset 129-120.

You have to go all the way back to 1949 for the last time that consecutive Johns Trophy finals were contested by the same teams, when Surrey defeated Essex in both 1948 and 1949.

Gloucestershire have only reached the Final once before, and interestingly, it could be a repeat of the 1991 final against Norfolk.
