WITH the outdoor season drawing ever closer, Commonwealth Games star Natalie Melmore has started to think about what makes a good club member? Not necessarily ‘good’ in the sense of bowling ability, but in the ability to give back to the club and be a valuable team member.
Here are her thoughts...
ALL players will recall playing at least one shot of equal standing and brilliance. There is however, one aspect which possibly makes any great shot more memorable than any other. This is the timing of the same. For example, a shot to remove a bowl for six shots to win a match with the last delivery on the final end is exactly the same shot when similarly played on the first.
Bowls England has announced that the following players are invited to attend the Women's Junior International Trial on Monday, May 25 at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa, CV31 3PT.

Northamptonshire’s Jamie Walker further enhanced his burgeoning reputation by being named the Bowls International ‘Junior Bowler of the Year’ for 2014 following a unique mixed pairs/mixed fours double at Leamington, plus a semi-final appearance in the men’s singles.
Alex Marshall is the next quarter finalist to reach the next stage of the Just Retirement World Professional Indoor Bowls Singles Championship after defeating Nick Brett.
Greg Harlow is the first person to qualify for the Just Retirement World Professional Indoor Bowls Singles Championship after knocking out defending champion Darren Burnett in two straight sets this morning.
Last year the specialist retirement income provider was announced as the new sponsor for the World Indoor Bowls Championship, for an initial two year period covering the 2014 and 2015 championships. Following the huge success last year, Just Retirement Limited has agreed a further three year sponsorship deal, as the title sponsor for the World Indoor Bowls Championships hosted at Potters Resort at Hopton-on-Sea on the Norfolk coast.
The final took place in front of a packed crowd on the blue portable rink at Potters this afternoon.
